Installations and performances are temporary, so video recordings are often the only lasting record of them.

This is the film of the planting of the maypole on May 1, 2015 at the Villa De Olmen garden in Wieze. The people carried 40 flags made for this procession, each with an aphorism from a list of 40 that I wrote and use regularly.

It took three weeks to erect the ten-metre high GDS (Gery De Smet) logo and fill it with straw bales. It took 25 minutes to burn it to ashes, the fire was so intense. The 700 spectators had to stay 50 metres away.

The local football team sent the youth section at the last minute to play a match on a specially constructed square football field, based on a square painting that had been made beforehand. The score was 8 - 3.

This propaganda clip of 18’ for my magazine AVE was made in Antwerpen. A girl drives from a neo gothic church through the Jewish area to another neo gothic church where she finds the title of the magazine.
